Suspect in Gay-Bash Killing Arraigned — San Francisco Chronicle

SAN FRANCISCO -- A 25-year-old San Francisco man was arraigned yesterday on a hate crime-related murder charge stemming from his assault on a man outside a South of Market gay bar last week.
Edgar Mora entered a plea of not guilty to the charge that he hit Brian Wilmes, 45, last Thursday in front of The Loading Dock bar and that Wilmes fell and struck his head on the pavement. Wilmes lapsed into a coma and died Saturday.  Read more...

HALLINAN SELECTS VETERAN PROSECUTOR MURLENE JOHNSON RANDLE TO HEAD HOMICIDE UNIT

District Attorney Terence Hallinan announced today that Murlene Johnson Randle will replace Teri Jackson as the head of the homicide unit on December 15, 1997. Randle will replace Teri Jackson, who has accepted a position in private practice. Read more...

Cop guilty of sex assault on ex-wife

SAN FRANCISCO -- A San Francisco police officer has been convicted of four felonies in separate attacks on his ex-wife and a female officer.

A San Francisco Superior Court jury Thursday found Officer William T. Taylor, 31, guilty of false imprisonment and sexual assault on his ex-wife last August. Earlier this week, the same jury found him guilty of sexual battery and false imprisonment in an attack on female officer who had given him a ride home from a party in 1994. Read more...
